President

Nick Johnson is a Finance major, Journalism minor from Frisco, Texas. He is the treasurer for NABJ and is also involved in other organizations. Johnson enjoys working with NABJ because it allows him to engage with other African Americans about journalism. Johnson is very passionate about working with NABJ and is honored to serve as our president

Sydney Bland

Greetings, my name is Sydney Bland a graduating senior journalism major from New Jersey. As far back as I can remember, I possessed a passion for communicating compelling stories. Now as a Hampton University Honors College journalism student graduating in 2017, I am committed to honing my craft and pursuing a career as a broadcast journalist. Currently, I am a multimedia journalist/producer for WHOV-TV News and a national radio correspondent for Smooth 88.1 WHOV at Hampton University.

Social Media Director

Des'Tini LaGrone is a junior journalism major, minoring in Spanish from St.Louis, Missouri. Des'Tini not only a serves as our social media director but she is a contributing writer for Her Campus, a freelance writer for USA Today-College and serves as a member of the Student Government Association. Des'Tini LaGrone's overall goal is to become an international journalist that informs and inspire people of all age groups and racial backgrounds..

Cierra J.

Secretary

Cierra J born and raised in Henderson, North Carolina posses a sweet thing called "southern hospitality." She is a Junior, Broadcast Journalism major Theater Arts minor aspiring to be a news correspondent for a major news organization. She also holds the position of Secretary for the Hampton University chapter of NABJ. She discovered her talent in the church when her bishop asked her to be head anchor for the church news. She was anchor for a few months before attending Hampton University. Her motto has always been "the choices you make today will ultimately effect your tomorrow."

Victoria Daniels

Photographer

Victoria Daniels serves as the photographer and social media director for our chapter of NABJ . She is a sophomore journalism major with a minor in leadership

studies from the City of Oaks, Raleigh, North Carolina. In addition to serving as an officer for

NABJ, she is the secretary of the Southeastern Pre Alumni Council and the Costume Director for

the Terpsichorean Dance Company. She is also a writer for Her Campus Hampton U, an online women’s

magazine for college girls on campuses around the country. You can also tune into Smooth 88.1

WHOV FM to hear her giving daily news reports on weather, entertainment, and national news.

Her love for journalism and writing is also expressed through my personal blog,

quintessentiallyspeakingblog.wordpress.com, which focuses on topics ranging from current

events to relationship issues. Her future plans include becoming an anchorwoman for a major

news network, traveling the world, and writing a book reflecting on the events in my life.
